POLICE RELEASE PHOTOGRAPHS OF AUTO THEFT SUSPECTS

On Friday, February 3, 2017 at approximately 12:16 AM, the Evanston Police Department was dispatched to a car dealership in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue in reference loud individuals in the alley.  Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate anyone in the alley.  Officers conducted a premise check of the dealership and discovered a glass door broken out and one of the overhead bay doors wide open.  Officers did not locate anyone in the dealership, but did find one of the offices inside was broken into and further located an unoccupied vehicle running inside.

A short time later, our agency was notified by the Chicago Police Department that they recovered two unoccupied BMW brand vehicles from the dealership near Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton Avenue.  Management from the dealership was able to confirm that a total of five vehicles were stolen in the incident, four BMW brand vehicles and one Porsche.  As of the time of this release four of the five vehicles have been recovered in Chicago.  The only vehicle currently missing is a 2013 BMW X3, white in color.

Evanston Police detectives are currently following up on investigative leads, including canvassing for video near the dealership and the locations where the vehicles were recovered.  A video from the dealership showed six offenders enter the dealership.  Three photographs of offenders in this incident are attached to this release for legitimate media publications only.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Evanston Police Department at (847) 866-5000 and ask for the detective bureau or utilize Text-A-Tip at CRIMES (274637) and enter EPDTIP in the message line with the tip information
