Lincoln School Kindergarten Literacy Partners

Do you love reading to children?  Are you interested in supporting our earliest learners to develop a love of reading and stories?

Join Lincoln School Kindergarten Literacy Partners program!  You will tutor pairs of Kindergarten students as they develop early literacy and oral language skills that will support them as they become readers. Lincoln School is looking for volunteers to offer two half-hour sessions weekly, working with a pair of kindergarten students in their newest  Literacy Tutoring program. This program is being developed by District 65 reading specialists with input from kindergarten teachers to help make sure that it provides the type of support that can best benefit our Kindergarten students.

Tutors must have completed a background check with District 65 (in the past or we can complete it now), attend a training to learn how to execute the program, and commit to working with students consistently through the remainder of the school year. Tutors will be trained to use the specially designed activity cards for each session that go with each book, so that no pre-planning will be required of the tutors before the sessions.
