Mayoral Candidate Forums Scheduled
As you likely have heard, we will be having a Primary Election on February 28 for the offices of Mayor and 5th Ward Alderman since there are five candidates for each of these two offices. If any candidate receives 51 percent of the vote, he/she will be deemed the winner of the office being sought. If no candidate receives 51 percent, there will be a run-off at the Consolidated General Election on April 4 between the top two vote-getters for each of the two offices. The mayoral candidates will share their perspectives on local issues at these two early forums: Sat., Feb. 4, 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Tues., Feb. 7, 7 p.m. Early voting will take place February 13-27 at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
New Summer Camp Registration Process Begins February 4
Individuals registering their children for Evanston summer camps will no longer have to wait for lottery results to find out if their child is successfully enrolled, thanks to a new, simplified camp registration process. On Sat., Feb. 4, online registration and in-person registration at the Robert Crown Center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for Evanston residents (zip codes 60201 and 60202 only).
Senior Citizen Property Tax Reduction Applications Due February 8
Mini-classes for Evanston Kids in Dance, Singing and TheaterA group of Northwestern University students is offering several free half-day “Classes for Kittens” for Evanston children on February 11 and 18. Choices include A Capella singing, theater, ballroom dancing, rhythmic drum, and dance and creative dance. “Classes for Kittens” was first offered last year and attracted over 60 children.
