See the Cubs World Series Trophy this Sunday!
The Chicago Cubs World Series Trophy Tour is coming to Evanston! This Sun., Jan. 22, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., come to the Morton Civic Center and get your photo taken with the trophy. Doors open at 10 a.m., and admission is free. Please enter at the south ground floor entrance on the west side of the building.
New Summer Camp Registration Process Begins February 4
Individuals registering their children for Evanston summer camps will no longer have to wait for lottery results to find out if their child is successfully enrolled thanks to a new, simplified camp registration process. On Sat., Feb. 4, online registration and in-person registration at the Robert Crown Center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for Evanston residents (zip codes 60201 and 60202 only).
Reminder: Special Event Permit Applications Due January 31
Groups and organizations that wish to hold special events in the City of Evanston in 2017 will need to submit a Special Event Permit Application by Tues., Jan. 31. The application is available online.
Fencing at Chandler-Newberger Center Begins Saturday
Gain self-confidence, self-control, and emotional strength for a healthier lifestyle with fencing classes at Chandler-Newberger Center this winter! The program takes place on Saturdays, January 21 through March 15. Classes are offered for ages 7-9, 9-11, and 11+ at the beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Special Olympics District Basketball Meet January 22
Good luck to our three Special Olympics teams that are competing in the District basketball meet on Sunday, January 22! One team will be playing at Lake Zurich High School and the other two will be playing at Deerfield High School.
Enjoy Moira's Afternoon Tea January 25
Get out your fancy hat; we’re going to a tea! Join the Levy Center on a visit to the Celtic Knot for Moira's Afternoon Tea on Wed., Jan. 25, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be an assortment of mini-sandwiches, homemade scones, a selection of mini-tarts and desserts and, of course, tea. The bus will leave from the Levy Center. This event is for ages 55 years and up. Call the Levy Center at 847-448-8250 or stop by the Levy Center front desk to register. The fee is $24 for Levy members, and $39 for nonmembers. (Class # 544001)
Craft Quickies Begins January 25
Join us at the Levy Center on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon for a new craft class. You'll do a one- or two-day project, from tile painting to papermaking. Sessions are from January 25 through March 8. This program is for ages 55 and up. The cost is $45 for Levy members and $63 for nonmembers. (Class #544601)
Hockey Days in Evanston January 27-28
Enjoy food and games while watching hockey at the Robert Crown Center on Fri., Jan. 27 and Sat., Jan. 28. More than 400 Evanston Hockey players of all ages will be playing 19 back-to-back games throughout the weekend.
