Evanston Own It! Presents Hanging of the Greens December 2

wreath

Why do Christians use evergreens and poinsettias during Advent and Christmas? Why do we decorate our homes and sanctuaries with Christmas trees and ornaments? Come and join us on Fri., Dec. 2, 7 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church, 2201 Foster St., for an evening worship service that will provide you with the answers to these questions while enriching your understanding of the Advent and Christmas season.

Evanston Own It! pastors, mass choir and liturgical dancers will participate in this beautiful service in preparation for a blessed season of love, hope, joy and peace found in the midst of community.

Daylight Saving Time Ends November 6

Clock

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. this Sun., Nov. 6. The Evanston Fire Department reminds everyone to not only change the clocks throughout their homes before they go to bed on Saturday night (set them back one hour), but to also change the batteries in their home’s smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Smoke detectors save lives.
