EVANSTON POLICE ARREST JUVENILE WITH HANDGUN

On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at approximately 7:00PM, members of the Evanston Police Department tactical unit were in the area of Marshfield Avenue and Jonquil Terrace in Chicago looking for a known 16 year male juvenile who resides in the area, in reference to him being wanted by juvenile detectives for an incident that occurred in August of 2016.  Upon observing the juvenile they were seeking, the tactical officers attempted to stop him, but he fled on foot.  The juvenile was taken into custody after a foot pursuit in the 7600 block of north Bosworth Avenue.  After being taken into custody, the tactical officers discovered approximately 10 grams of suspect Cannabis and a loaded Beretta 9mm handgun from the juvenile.  The juvenile was transported to the Evanston Police Department and charged with the below offenses.  The juvenile was subsequently transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago. Due to the arrestee being a juvenile, no further information can be provided.

A photograph of the recovered handgun is attached to this release for legitimate media publications only.
