 EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - The City of Evanston is notifying
residents that yard waste stickers are no longer being sold at The Home Depot,
located at 2201 Oakton St., in Evanston. The Home Depot has failed to pay the
City, and by extension its taxpayers, more than $15,000 for yard waste stickers.
Most invoices are more than a year overdue. The City apologizes to residents for
any inconvenience.
The City of Evanston has repeatedly attempted
to collect these funds, and will no longer purchase goods from the store. In
2015, the City spent a total of $119,408.50 on in-store and online purchases at
The Home Depot.
Residents may continue to purchase yard waste stickers for
$1.75 each at the following locations:
- Jewel Osco – 1128 Chicago Ave.
- Jewel Osco – 2491 Howard St.
- Jewel Osco – 411 Green Bay Rd.,
Wilmette
- Lemoi Ace Hardware – 1008 Davis
St.
- Collector’s Office –
Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
- Levy Senior Center – 300
Dodge Ave.
- Chalet Nursery – 3132 Lake Ave.,
Wilmette
Residents may also purchase a reusable yard waste cart, which does not require
the use of paper yard waste bags or stickers. To order a reusable yard waste cart, residents can complete the online order form at cityofevanston.org/yardwaste, or visit the City Collector’s office, 2100 Ridge
Ave. A cart costs $82.50 plus a $25 annual fee. Yard waste fees are assessed
annually and appear on residents’ water, sewer and sanitation bills.
Weekly residential yard waste collections for the 2016 season
will continue through Thursday, December 1. Yard waste is collected on Evanston
residents’ regular refuse and recycling collection days.
