Next 7th Ward Meeting, Thursday, Sept. 22

Mark your calendars for a 7th Ward meeting on Thurs., Sept. 22 from 7-9 pm, at the NU Athletics Team Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Nicolet Football Building, 2701 Ashland Ave. Parking on Ashland Ave or in the West Parking Lot.  (NU Athletics Facilities Map).

The agenda will include:

  • Police Report
  • Rodent Control Program
  • East Central Street Streetscape Improvement Program
  • NU Facilities Update (Welsh-Ryan Arena, South Campus Residence Hall)

7th Ward Residents are Invited to 1st Ward Meeting, Sept. 6

Fiske

Alderman Judy Fiske invites 7th Ward residents to attend her upcoming 1st Ward meeting on Tues., Sept. 6 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington  Ave., in the Large Community Room  to learn about NU's proposal for a new South Campus Residence Hall at Hinman & Sheridan. Also on the agenda: revised truck routes to and from the NU lakefront campus.

CommUNITY Picnic

Celebrate Evanston, diversity and going back to school at the City’s 2016 CommUNITY Picnic this Sun., Aug. 21, noon to 4 p.m., at Ingraham Park! The free event will feature free food, games, activities, entertainment, community partner social service agencies and more.

Inaugural Fifth Ward Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27

5th Ward Festival 2016

Everyone is invited to the Inaugural Fifth Ward Festival on Sat., Aug. 27, from noon to 8 pm at Twiggs Park (Simpson and Bridge Streets). The event will provide residents living outside the Fifth Ward an opportunity to experience and learn more about this part of our community.

The festival will include music, food, young entertainers, speakers, and outreach booths by local organizations providing information about jobs and job training, mental health care, voter registration and more, all of which contribute to empowerment and can help reduce gun violence. Police and firefighters will be on hand to share information about public service jobs and mingle with the community.

Evanston homeowners can appeal their 2016 assessed values with the Cook County Board of Review through Tues., Aug. 30. The City’s Property Tax Assessment Review Office can help!

Call/text 847-448-4311 to schedule an appointment or complete an Appeal Authorization Form to allow the office to file an appeal on your behalf.

Have you seen the City’s new wayfinding signage? Provide your feedback by taking a brief survey by Fri., Aug. 26! New signs are being tested at nine locations, and are used to direct motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to City and University facilities, parking, lakefront attractions and more.
