Enjoy Evanston Streets Alive! this Sunday

Walk, run, bike or skate to Evanston Streets Alive! this Sun., Aug. 14! The free, "open streets" event will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Main Street, from Chicago Avenue to Robert Crown Park. Enjoy games, booths, activities, food trucks, live performances, open space and much more. The event will also include the Green Living Festival, presented by NorthShore University HealthSystem.

Annual CommUNITY Picnic August 21

Celebrate Evanston, diversity and going back to school at the City’s 2016 CommUNITY Picnic on Sun., Aug. 21, noon to 4 p.m., at Ingraham Park! The free event will feature free food, games, activities, entertainment, community partner social service agencies and more.

Upcoming Starlight Movies in the Park

Summer's not over yet! This Sat., Aug. 13, bring the family to Mason Park for a starlight showing of "Dreamgirls." Then, on Tues., Aug. 16, enjoy a screening of "Hook" at Bent Park. All movies are free and begin at dusk.

Visit the Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market!

August 7 through 13 is National Farmers Market Week! Check out all of the great fruits, vegetables, meat, flowers, cheese, eggs and bakery items available at the Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market every Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., through November 5. The Market is located at University Pl. and Oak Ave.

Provide Your Input on New Wayfinding Signage

Have you seen the City’s new wayfinding signage? Provide your feedback by taking a brief survey by Fri., Aug. 26! New signs are being tested at nine locations, and are used to direct motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to City and University facilities, parking, lakefront attractions and more.

Thursday Night Live in Downtown Evanston Tonight!

Downtown Evanston's "Thursday Night Live" series continues tonight, Thurs., Aug. 11, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., with The Ramon Raquello Orchestra! The free concert will be in the plaza at 1603 Orrington Ave.

Are You Eligible for the City's Housing Rehab Program?

The City’s Housing Rehabilitation Program provides financing to maintain and improve the quality of Evanston’s housing stock.

Ward Meetings

2nd Ward/Penny Park Improvement Meeting 8/11

The City will host two upcoming community meetings regarding planned improvements at Penny Park. The first will take place as part of Ald. Peter Braithwaite's 2nd Ward meeting tonight, Thurs., Aug. 11, 7 p.m., at the J.E.H. Education Center.

5th Ward Meeting 8/18

Ald. Delores Holmes will host a 5th Ward meeting on Thurs., Aug. 18, 7 p.m., at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.

Get Help Filing a Property Tax Assessment Appeal

Evanston homeowners can appeal their 2016 assessed values with the Cook County Board of Review through Tues., Aug. 30. The City’s Property Tax Assessment Review Office can help! Call/text 847-448-4311 to schedule an appointment or complete an Appeal Authorization Form to allow the office to file an appeal on your behalf.

FJT's "Single Black Female" Continues 8/13-14

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's "Single Black Female," by Lisa B. Thompson, continues this weekend with performances on Sat., Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. and Sun., Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.
