4th of July Activities, Parade and Fireworks!

July 4th Fun Run

The Evanston Fourth of July Association has planned fun activities for the whole family throughout the day on Mon., July 4. Share photos of your Independence Day festivities on Facebook and Instagram using #ETown4th.

July 4th Pie Eating Contest champs

Activities
Events will begin at 9 a.m. with roller skating and refreshments at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center and family playground activities at seven locations across the city. (Please note: King Lab School activities have been moved to the ETHS Track Area due to construction.)


July 4 Parade

Parade
The Evanston 4th of July Parade begins at 2 p.m. on Central St. at Central Park Ave. and travels east to Ryan Field. As a reminder, lawn chairs may be placed on the parkway along Central St. beginning at 6 a.m. this Fri., July 1. Chairs and blankets are not permitted on sidewalks or in the right-of-way.


Fireworks

Concert & Fireworks
The Palatine Concert Band will perform at Dawes Park from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lakefront fireworks set to music will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.; tune in to FM 90.5. Fireworks are visible from most lakefront parks.

Independence Day Holiday Weekend Schedule

The City has announced facility closures and refuse collection schedules for the Independence Day holiday weekend, Sat., July 2 through Mon., July 4. Evanston 311 will be open for extended hours on July 4, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. No refuse collections will occur on July 4. All trash, yard waste and recycling collections will occur one day later in the week.

Divvy Bike Share Rolls Into Evanston!

Divvy Bike Share has officially rolled into Evanston, with 100 bikes and 10 bike share stations being installed in locations strategically chosen to provide residents, visitors and students with an additional two-wheeled transportation option. Learn more about Divvy during Downtown Evanston’s Get Healthy Divvy ride beginning in Fountain Square this Fri., July 1, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

Enjoy 'Evanston Free Play' Soccer at City Parks

Evanston Free Play Soccer Pitch

Have you noticed the new soccer pitch at Robert Crown Park? "Evanston Free Play" is a new program designed to foster unstructured, more fun soccer play. Thanks to the generous donations of supporters, there are no fees, no sign-ups, no special equipment and no teams necessary. The pitch will rotate to other City parks beginning in mid-July.

NU Summer Cinema Presents "Inside Out" July 6

Northwestern’s family-friendly summer cinema series continues Wed., July 6 with a free showing of “Inside Out.” Films are screened at dusk (around 9 p.m.) on the East Lawn of the Norris University Center. Enjoy free activities and food items beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The City will host its sixth annual "Evanston Recycles" event on Sat., July 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at ETHS. The free “drive up, drop off” event provides an opportunity to recycle a variety of items and securely shred documents.
