Register for Spring Break Camps, March 28-April 1

The City's Recreation Division offers a variety of fun Spring Break Camps for children Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1. Programs include arts camp, ecology camp, sports camps, LEGO camps, adventure camps and more! To register, call/text 847-448-4311 or visit cityofevanston.org/register.

Register for Summer Adult Softball Leagues by March 31!

Get outside and join an adult softball league this summer! The Evanston Recreation Division's summer leagues are Women 14", Coed 14" mushball, and Men's 12".  The Men's Wednesday Night league is full, but spaces are still available in the other leagues.

Register for the Ecology Center's Ladd Arboretum Egg Hunt, March 26

We need your help! Some of the birds in the bird sanctuary have misplaced their eggs in the Ladd Arboretum. Help the Evanston Ecology Center find them, learn about birds, and take part in activities and a craft on Saturday, March 26. Four one-hour time slots are available, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Bring a basket or bag for collecting! Pre-registration is required (Class #113130). 

Fleetwood-Jourdain Tater Tot Theatre Presents: "Timothy Goes to School," March 26

The “little sibling” to the Evanston Children’s Theatre, Tater Tot Theatre Company was created to allow young thespians ages 5-7 the opportunity to participate in the magic of live theatre. This year, Tater Tot Theatre will be presenting “Timothy Goes to School,” adapted from a series of children’s books by acclaimed author/illustrator Rosemary Wells.

The play follows a raccoon named Timothy, who starts kindergarten and meets many new friends, who help Timothy overcome his fears. Children of all ages will easily relate to this tale, in which humor and realism effectively mesh. The performance will take place Saturday, March 26, at 3 p.m., at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center. For more information, call 847-866-5914.

After School Art Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Chandler-Newberger Center!

Beginning Tuesday, April 5, children will use their imaginations and a variety of materials to create masterpieces inspired by artists, such as Paul Klee and Alexander Calder, as part of the "Exploring Great Artists" program. Each week, on Tuesday and Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a new artist is introduced. Sign up for the entire session or for individual days. Special Olympics District Swim Meet Results

Congratulations to the six swimmers from the Evanston Special Olympics Team who competed in the Special Olympics District Swim Meet on Saturday, March 19 at Lake Forest College.  The swimmers received one 5th place, one 4th place, two Bronze Medals, three Silver Medals, and three Gold medals in individual competition and a Silver medal in the 4x25 Medley Relay.  The three athletes who received gold medals in their events have qualified to compete at the Summer State Games in June.

2016 Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair Attracts Record 615 Evanston Youth

A record 615 Evanston youth ages 14 to 18 attended the 2016 Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair at Evanston Township High School on March 12. It was the program’s largest job fair to date, exceeding the 2015 job fair’s attendance of 600. The City thanks the many community organizations, event volunteers, job providers and staff who helped make the 2016 job fair such a success.
