 Interfaith Action of Evanston plans to open its Emergency Overnight Homeless Shelter the night of Sun., Jan. 10, due to an expected temperature drop. The shelter is located at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1004 Greenwood St. Doors open for guests at 9 p.m.

2016 Special Event Permit Applications Due 1/29
 Groups and organizations that wish to hold special events in the City of Evanston will need to submit a Special Event Permit Application by Fri., Jan. 29. Events are subject to final approval of the City’s Special Events Committee and, in some cases, the City Council.

District 65 Kindergarten Information Nights Begin 1/14
 Kindergarten is the start of an exciting new adventure for children and parents! This winter, Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is hosting a series of events for families to learn more about the kindergarten experience. Children must be five years old on or before September 1 to register for kindergarten.

Hemingway Appointed PRCS Director
 Lawrence C. Hemingway has been appointed as the City's new Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. Hemingway has served as Director of Parks and Recreation for Wayne County Parks in Michigan since 2010. His start date at the City is Mon., Feb. 8.
