Civic Legal Corps Offers Free Weekly Legal Consultations
An attorney from
Civic Legal Corps, a nonprofit law firm, will be available for free,
individual, legal consultations weekly at the Evanston Public Library, Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. Consultations are available in English and Spanish and will be held in the Newberry Room on the second floor of the Main Library. Individuals are encouraged to bring any paperwork relating to the legal issue to the appointment. Visit the Reference Desk (3rd Floor) or call

appointment. Areas of law covered include:
Family Law: Divorce, custody, child support,
orders of protection, and appeals from Department of Children and Family
Services (DCFS) indications.
Housing Law: Issues related to your apartment or house, including eviction, code violations, and security deposits.
Immigration: Including UVisa petitions,
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) petitions, and Deferred Action for
Childhood Arrival (DACA) applications and renewal.
Contract Disputes: Including disputes with
service providers (contractors, mechanics, etc.), licensing agencies,
and other day-to-day contract issues.
