Several years ago, HealthCare Initiatives launched a service to help seniors navigate Medicare options. More recently, some younger people have also contacted them for help determining their best options relative to the Affordable Care Act. HealthCare Initiatives is independent of insurance companies and therefore, can offer unbiased, objective recommendations based upon an individual’s needs, circumstances, and finances.

Join Terry Brauer, CEO of HealthCare Initiatives, on Thursday, November 12, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., as he goes through the process with you. This is a free program, but pre-registration is required. Please sign up at the front desk or call 847-448-8250.

Choosing a Caregiver November 19

Research shows that the vast majority of adults over age 50 want to stay in their own homes and communities as long as possible. But there may come a time when they themselves or their families are concerned about their ability to handle the daily challenges of life on one’s own. For their own safety and health, a person may need a full- or part-time caregiver. Choosing one is a complex process. On Thursday, November 19, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., these five agencies will participate in a panel discussion of what you need to know:

  • Home Instead
  • Midwest CareCenter
  • North Shore Senior Center
  • Rainbow Hospice
  • Services for Adults Staying in Their Homes

Bring your questions for a discussion after the panel presentations. This program is sponsored by North Shore Village and is free and open to the public.
