Halloween Party at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center October 30

Stop by the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., for a Halloween Party on Friday, October 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The fun will include games, exotic balloons, face painting and refreshments. Plus, try to recognize the staff dressed in costume! Come on the early side to enjoy a story hour, arts and crafts from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The fun house will be available from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event is for ages 4-12 years. Admission is free!


Halloween Fest at Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market October 31

Join us for Halloween Fest at the Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market, located at University Pl. & Oak Ave., on Saturday, October 31 from 9 a.m. to noon.  The first 50 kids 12 years and under in costume will receive a goody bag and the first 100 kids will receive a free pumpkin to decorate, a treat bag and mask crafts.  There will also be a performance from the Foster Dance Troupe.


Halloween Skate Party at Robert Crown Center October 31

Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St., will host its annual Halloween Skate on the Main Rink from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 31. Admission and skate rental are free when you come in a costume. For safety, admission is limited to the first 50 skaters. The event is free and open to the public. Day of the Dead Concert at the Levy Center November 1

Academy of Mexican Dance and Music

Celebrate the “Day of the Dead” at the Levy Center, located at 300 Dodge Ave., on Sunday, November 1, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The free event will feature a concert performance from the Academy of Mexican Dance and Music, the region’s premiere Mexican folkloric performing ensemble. Other fun activities include interactive arts stations where families can create ofrendas, and a costume parade for all ages. Food will be available for purchase.


Evanston Special Olympics Team Recent Results

On October 3, athletes from the Evanston Special Olympics Team competed in Special Olympics Chicago’s Flag Football Tournament.  This was the first time that Evanston has competed in flag football.  All players received competition medals and the team received a team trophy as well as a game ball.  Also, 4 athletes were selected to compete in the all-star game after the regular competition finished.

On October 17, an athlete from the Evanston Special Olympics Team competed in the Special Olympics District Bowling Tournament.  The athlete received 7th place in a very competitive division.


Night Hike at Evanston Ecology Center November 6

Test your nocturnal senses on a guided night hike through the Ladd Arboretum on Friday, November 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  You will learn about animals' night vision and its importance to their nocturnal lifestyle.  In addition to the hike, there will also be a campfire with s'mores! Preregistration is required and may be done by calling 847-448-8256 or registering online.

Indoor Soccer Leagues at Chandler-Newberger Center Begin November 7

Recreational indoor soccer leagues begin Saturday, November 7 and run through Saturday, December 12. This 5-week program teaches youth in preschool through 3rd grade soccer fundamentals, sportsmanship and teamwork. The first week, a group clinic meets; the second week, we’ll form teams and begin games. Parents will receive their child’s team assignments and game schedules prior to the second week. Youth & Adult Indoor Tennis Classes Begin November 7-8

Do you want to continue playing tennis during the fall and winter, but don't want to pay a club membership fee? Space is limited, so sign up today for indoor tennis programs! The programs provide a wide variety of instruction, including stroke development, strategy, court positioning, shot selection, footwork and supervised match play.
