Evanston Public Library Storytelling Festival this Weekend!

Revel in the power of words from a diverse group of professional storytellers and students at the Evanston Public Library's Storytelling Festival this Fri., Oct. 9 through Sun., Oct. 11! Held at a variety of venues in downtown Evanston, the festival will celebrate the universal and unique experiences of being human through a wide range of story styles and cultural perspectives.


Fire Prevention Week Open House on Sunday

Fire Prevention Week Open House

In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, the Evanston Fire Department invites all community members to attend an Open House this Sun., Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fire Station #1. The free event will include fun children’s activities, equipment displays, safety demonstrations, games and prizes.


Watch Chicago Cubs NLDS Playoff Games at Evanston Community Centers

Baseball

The Levy Center and Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be open for viewing of the National League Division Series (NLDS) featuring the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. Fans who don't have access to cable TV or who simply want to watch the game with their neighbors are encouraged to drop by!


Save the Date: "Open House Chicago" Comes to Evanston October 17-18

For the first time ever, the Chicago Architecture Foundation's "Open House Chicago" will feature a community outside of the city's borders: Evanston! The free public festival, Sat., Oct. 17 and Sun., Oct. 18, will offer behind-the-scenes access to 200 buildings, including 14 in Evanston.


"Forgotten Cuba" Art Reception October 11

On Sun., Oct. 11, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., attend an opening reception for the “Forgotten Cuba” art exhibition at the Morton Civic Center. This exhibition, by local photographer Jerry Alt, highlights approximately 50 fine art photographs from his April 2015 trip to Cuba.


Wedding Fashions Talk at the Evanston Public Library 10/8

Tonight, Thurs., Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., the Evanston History Center will present "Evanston Ties the Knot: An Exhibit of Wedding Fashions & Customs from the 19th Century to the Present," at the main Evanston Public Library.


30th Annual Marty F. Leoni Fun Run 10/18

Volunteers Needed for Zombie Scramble 10/24
