 EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - Children age eight through eighth grade are invited to
audition for Evanston Children’s Theatre’s next production, The Cell Phone Rings for Thee, on
Thursday, September 3 and Saturday, September 5 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the
Levy Senior Center, located at 300 Dodge
Ave., in Evanston. Actors should have a poem or short monologue memorized for the audition.
The Cell Phone Rings
for Thee is comprised of seven 10-minute plays that shine light on the use
of cell phones, Facebook, cutting-edge shopping carts, and other gadgets
that bewitch and bedevil us on a daily basis. The seven plays are: The Cell Phone Rings for Thee; Gary’s
Endurance Roast; The Talking Shopping Cart; Un Restaurant; Coulrophobia; Close
Shave; and The Morris A. Cockmorton High-School Cafeteria Text Messaging
Tragedy.
Rehearsals
will be held Tuesday or Thursday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Performances will take place at the Levy Center on Friday,
November 20 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, November 21 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The final
performance of the play will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 22 at the
Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, located at 1655 Foster St., in Evanston.
