City of Evanston Begins Construction to Expand Ecology Center Classroom

Ecology Center2

EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - On Monday, August 17, the City of Evanston began construction to expand the existing classroom at the Evanston Ecology Center, located at 2024 McCormick Blvd.

The Evanston Environmental Association (EEA), which supports the Ecology Center, contributed $43,000 to help fund the project. The expanded classroom will provide additional space for Ecology Center programming, as well as more living space for the Center’s critters.

During construction, the building will remain open and classes will continue to be held; however, access to the animal room will be unavailable. Construction is expected to be completed in early October 2015.

For more information about the project, please call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 3-1-1 in Evanston.

About the Evanston Environmental Association
The Evanston Environmental Association is a non-profit organization that has promoted environmental education and action in Evanston since 1976. The EEA was formed to support the Evanston Ecology Center, the Center's educational programs, and the Ladd Arboretum. That mission continues to drive the EEA's efforts today.
