Dear Friends,
Please join me tonight, Tuesday, August 4, beginning at 6 p.m., at Penny Park, located at Lake St. and Ashland Ave., for National Night Out. The event will feature dessert food trucks and the season's first Starlight Movie in the Park, Akeelah and the Bee, which will begin at dusk (shortly after 8 p.m.). The event is one of many "National Night Out" events happening throughout Evanston this evening. Read more about National Night Out below.
A special thank you is due to 2nd Ward PST Officer Reggie Napier and Assistant Director of Community Services Christina Ferraro for making arrangements to have food trucks present at tonight's event.
Please share this information! My goal is to keep all neighbors in our ward informed about upcoming events and opportunities they can benefit from. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please feel free to contact me directly at pbraithwaite@cityofevanston.org, or 847-801-9386.

Ald. Peter Braithwaite “We Are One Community”
I encourage all 2nd Ward residents to participate in National Night Out this evening by bringing their family, friends and neighbors to Penny Park. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with dessert food trucks from Anthony's Italian Ice and Chicago Cupcake. The season's first Starlight Movie, Akeelah and the Bee, will begin shortly after 8 p.m.
National Night Out is a unique crime prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Please join me in turning on your front porch lights this evening as a display of unity. Learn more about National Night Out in Evanston >>>
As part of the City’s annual water main improvement program, the 24-inch diameter water main on Pitner Ave., between Greenleaf St. and Nathaniel Pl., is being rehabilitated using a structural lining process. The project began yesterday, Monday, August 3, and will be completed by Friday, August 28, weather permitting.
Following the completion of this project, a separate project will commence to replace the 10-inch diameter water main on the east side of Pitner Ave. More information on this project is to come.
This project is being monitored and inspected by the City's Utilities Department. Please direct any questions to Project Manager Kristin Rehg or Distribution Supervisor Tim Bartus at 847-448-8198.
