PLEASE JOIN US; PARTICIPATE,
NOMINATE, VOTE! It is an exciting time to be in southeast Evanston. After
a feasibility examination process lasting nearly 18 months and bringing
together over 100 merchants and property owners from the business districts in
southeast Evanston, the Evanston City Council adopted an ordinance on July 14,
2015 establishing a Special Service Area (SSA) for the businesses in southeast
Evanston. This SSA will levy a small tax that will fund merchant district
activities, street beautification, and improvements for all of the businesses
and property owners located in the new SSA. View a map of the SSA boundaries.
It is now time to shape the
future of this new SSA – and we want you to be involved. Over the next few
months we will come together to nominate and elect a Board of Directors that
will help establish by-laws, adopt a budget, and begin the important steps of creating
and implementing a work plan for the SSA.
Please participate to help ensure
the SSA best serves its merchant districts. Your involvement is the key! Check out our FAQ for more information about board nominations, elections, and the
first meeting, which will be held at Hemenway United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 24. We hope you will join and participate in this important process.
