30th Annual Ethnic Arts Festival this Weekend!

Ethnic Arts Fest music

Celebrate the 30th annual Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival this Sat., July 18 and Sun., July 19, from noon to 7 p.m., at Dawes Park! The free, two-day event features art from a wide variety of countries, family craft activities, international cuisine, live music, dance, and spoken word performances.


Local Youth Encouraged to Premiere Film Work

Movies

Local youth age 21 years and younger are invited to submit their locally made, short films to be screened as opening trailers during the 2015 Starlight Movies in the Park series. From August 4 through 22, free movies will be shown in Evanston parks on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This year's films include Ferris Bueller’s Day OffStar Trek (2009), The LEGO Movieand more! All movies begin at dusk. 


Starlight Concert at Mason Park July 21

Sidewalk Chalk

Hip-hop, soul and jazz band Sidewalk Chalk will perform on Tues., July 21, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Mason Park, located on Church St. at Florence Ave., as part of Evanston's Starlight Concert Series. Sidewalk Chalk was named "Most Outstanding Group" at the 2012 Chicago Music Awards.


"Let's Roll Together" Safety Outreach July 20-22

Bike Lanes

From Mon., July 20 through Wed., July 22, the City will conduct road safety outreach to bicyclists, motorists and pedestrians as part of its “Let’s Roll Together” campaign. Residents are encouraged to take the Illinois League of Bicyclists’ Bike Safety Quiz for a chance to earn a free bike bell and a $50 gift card to Wheel & Sprocket.
