Arrington Lakefront Lagoon Dedication June 6

This Sat., June 6, at 3:30 p.m., community members are invited to celebrate the reopening of the Arrington Lakefront Lagoon at Dawes Park! Wine, beer and food will be available for purchase from Sips on Sherman, Temperance Beer Co., and Kefi Greek Tavern. Following the dedication, attendees can enjoy the summer’s first Starlight Concert


Evanston Art Studios Open Their Doors June 6!

On Sat., June 6, from noon to 5 p.m., community members are invited to attend Open Studios Evanston, a free event that opens studio and gallery doors throughout Evanston to the general public. This year's event will feature works from more than 100 Evanston artists, live music, dance performances, and more! 


Evanston Starlight Concert Series Returns!

The City’s 2015 Starlight Concert Series kicks off on Sat., June 6 at 4 p.m. with a high-energy performance from Velocity at Dawes Park! Evanston’s Starlight Concert Series runs through July 28 and will feature 10 free outdoor concerts at nine park locations throughout the city.

Help Prioritize Parks/Facilities Projects for 2016-2018

Provide your feedback regarding potential parks and facilities projects by taking the "2016-2018 Parks & Facilities Capital Improvement Draft Plan Survey." The deadline to complete the survey is 10 p.m. on Thurs., June 11. Results will be presented during the City Council Meeting on Mon., June 15.


Provide Feedback to Make Evanston More Age Friendly!

Help create a more livable community by taking the City's “Age Friendly Evanston!” survey. Survey responses will be used to develop a three-year action plan to help achieve age-friendly goals in Evanston. The deadline to complete the survey is midnight on Fri., June 19.


Backyard Botanics Plant Sale 6/6

Highland Garden Club of Evanston will be hosting a plant sale with local, home-grown plants right from club members’ gardens on Sat., June 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Independence Park.


Free MIC Wind, Brass and Percussion Concert 6/7

Enjoy a recital of music featuring Music Institute of Chicago wind, brass and percussion students on Sun., June 7, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Nichols Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

City Employee Named "Volunteer of the Year"

The City congratulates Housing & Grants Administrator Sarah Flax on receiving the Illinois Council of Orchestras’ Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with the Evanston Symphony Orchestra. Flax was presented with the award on May 31 at Pick Staiger Concert Hall. 


"It's Thursday, Let's Dance!" Returns June 11

It's Thursday, Let's Dance!

Come on out to the only outdoor dance floor north of Chicago! "It's Thursday, Let's Dance!" returns to Downtown Evanston for its 16th year on Thurs., June 11 at 7 p.m. with a performance by Highland Park Pops Big Band at the 909 Davis St. Plaza. All events are free and open to all ages.

Energy Benchmarking Initiative Meeting 6/9

The Evanston Utilities Commission has launched an initiative to explore the creation of a potential Building Energy Efficiency Benchmarking ordinance. On Tues., June 9, 6 p.m., community members who feel that they would be impacted are invited to attend the first stakeholders meeting in Room 2404 at the Morton Civic Center.
