West Chicago soccer proclamation

District 6, County Board Celebrate West Chicago Soccer Team

County Board Chairman Dan Cronin and District 6 Board members Sheila Rutledge, Bob Larsen, and Jim Zay presented a proclamation to the West Chicago Community High School Boys’ Soccer Team for their incredible season, which culminated with a victory in the Class 3A State Championship!


Housing Authority Grant

Zay, DHA Officials Celebrate $600K Housing Grant

County Board Vice Chairman Jim Zay joined officials with the DuPage Housing Authority on Nov. 22 to celebrate the DHA receiving a $600,000 grant to provide affordable housing to adults with disabilities.

County Resource Site Gets Update
DuPage County has updated its DuPage CRIS portal! CRIS is a website that provides more than 1,000 resources that can assist residents in need. The site is now more user-friendly and easier to navigate. Check out the updated site!



Pumpkin smash Larsen

Larsen Joins Pumpkin Smash Recycling Event

County Board member Bob Larsen had a “smashing” good time in West Chicago as he assisted with a pumpkin composting event hosted by the First United Methodist Church and SCARCE. In all, SCARCE collected 47.5 tons of pumpkins at their recycling events across the County this fall!

Rutledge Delivers Donations to Food Pantry

This Thanksgiving, County Board member Sheila Rutledge delivered more than 300 books and crayons from SCARCE to the West Chicago Food Pantry.


County Board Approves FY2020 Budget

On Nov. 26, the DuPage County Board approved its Fiscal Year 2020 budget with a balanced, $476.2 million spending plan.

The budget provides funding to replace the County’s 40-year-old property tax administration system, increase the Sheriff’s patrol capacity and replace 16 patrol vehicles. The FY2020 Budget also provides $1 million in grant-funded local social services to DuPage’s neediest residents through the Human Services Grant Fund. The Heroin Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Taskforce receives $100,000 to continue the countywide fight against heroin and opioid addiction. The budget also includes an increased allocation for the DuPage County Clerk’s Election Division to conduct the 2020 primary and Presidential elections.

County Board members Sheila Rutledge, Bob Larsen, and Jim Zay spoke to government students at Jay Stream Middle School about local government, the County Board, and issues that are important to them.


Affordable housing meeting

County Board Members Discuss Affordable Housing

County Board Members Greg Hart, Bob Larsen, and Brian Krajewski met with constituents in Oak Brook to discuss affordable housing options for adults with disabilities.


DuPage County Seeking Input on ADA Plan

DuPage County will begin holding public meetings for input on the County’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan for pedestrian access on County roadways.

The DuPage Division of Transportation (DuDOT) is circulating a draft version of the plan for public comment and will accept public comment through Jan. 21, 2020. The first public meeting to discuss the ADA Plan will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Addison Village Hall, 1 Friendship Plaza, Addison.
Residents will be able to talk with staff about the proposed plan and provide feedback.
