Opioid grant announcement

Tornatore, DuPage Officials Announce $1.16 Million Grant to Address Opioids

County Board member and Board of Health President Sam Tornatore joined Congressman Bill Foster, Sheriff Jim Mendrick, Coroner Dr. Richard Jorgensen, and DuPage County Health Department Executive Director Karen Ayala to announce a $1.16 million Bureau of Justice Assistance grant to address the high rates of opioid use and overdoses, and the lack of treatment options for incarcerated people in DuPage County.

County Resource Site Gets Update
DuPage County has updated its DuPage CRIS portal! CRIS is a website that provides more than 1,000 resources that can assist residents in need. The site is now more user-friendly and easier to navigate. Check out the updated site!



District 1 intergovernmental meeting

Puchalski, Tornatore Attend Intergovernmental Meeting

County Board members Don Puchalski and Sam Tornatore attended an intergovernmental meeting September in Addison. Representatives from the school districts, park, library, police, and fire departments provided information and updates for all to share.


County Board Approves FY2020 Budget

On Nov. 26, the DuPage County Board approved its Fiscal Year 2020 budget with a balanced, $476.2 million spending plan.

The budget provides funding to replace the County’s 40-year-old property tax administration system, increase the Sheriff’s patrol capacity and replace 16 patrol vehicles. The FY2020 Budget also provides $1 million in grant-funded local social services to DuPage’s neediest residents through the Human Services Grant Fund. The Heroin Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE) Taskforce receives $100,000 to continue the countywide fight against heroin and opioid addiction. The budget also includes an increased allocation for the DuPage County Clerk’s Election Division to conduct the 2020 primary and Presidential elections.

County Board Members Tour Election Warehouse

County Board members Ashley Selmon, Dawn DeSart, and Mary FitzGerald Ozog toured the County Clerk's Election Division storage warehouse in September.


DuPage County Seeking Input on ADA Plan

DuPage County will begin holding public meetings for input on the County’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan for pedestrian access on County roadways.

The DuPage Division of Transportation (DuDOT) is circulating a draft version of the plan for public comment and will accept public comment through Jan. 21, 2020. The first public meeting to discuss the ADA Plan will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Addison Village Hall, 1 Friendship Plaza, Addison.
Residents will be able to talk with staff about the proposed plan and provide feedback.

ROE Hosts Government Forum

DuPage County Board members Don Puchalski, Tim Elliott, and Jim Zay spoke on a panel for school superintendents and the DuPage Regional Office of Education with state Reps. Kathleen Willis, Deb Conroy, and Terra Costa Howard.

Puchalski Raises Money for Service Organizations

County Board member Don Puchalski and Addison Mayor Richard Veenstra helped raise money for 17 service organizations at the village’s annual Community Ball on Nov. 17.
