2023 Illinois Tax Filing Season Begins Monday, January 23
Taxpayers encouraged to use improved, free tax-filing system
The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) will begin accepting 2022 state individual income tax returns on Monday, January 23, the same date that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) begins accepting federal individual income tax returns.
Things to note:
2022 Illinois individual income tax forms will be available on January 23, 2023
Electronically filed, error-free returns should receive a direct deposit refund in approximately four weeks
The 2023 tax filing deadline is Tuesday, April 18, 2023
