Withholding Income Tax News-  April 28, 2021

Return Due for First Quarter 2021

Form IL-941, 2021 Illinois Withholding Income Tax Return, is due to be filed to the Illinois Department of Revenue by April 30, 2021, for the first quarter (January 1 – March 31). Click here to file your IL-941 return or pay your IL-501 in MyTax Illinois.

Credits

Complete Schedule WC-I, Withholding Income Tax Credits Information and Worksheets, if you are filing Form IL-941, Illinois Withholding Income Tax Return, and are entitled to any of the following credits:

• Minimum Wage Credit

• Economic Development for a Growing Economy Tax Credit Program (EDGE)

• Illinois Small Business Job Creation Tax Credit (ILSBJC) - Expiring Credit

Important: The Illinois Small Business Job Creation Tax Credit (ILSBJC) cannot be carried forward or used on or after July 1, 2021.

Out-of-State Employers

If an Illinois resident employee has performed work for more than 30 working days from their home in Illinois for an out-of-state employer, the employer may be required to register with the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) and withhold Illinois Income Tax from the employee.
