Back To School Safety Tips
With a new school year underway, the City of Des Plaines is sharing a few back-to-school safety reminders for students, families, and drivers. As more students walk, bike, and ride the bus each day, it’s a good time for everyone to brush up on the simple steps that can help keep our community safe.
Drivers should:
-
Slow down in school zones.
-
Stay alert for students walking and biking.
-
Always stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing.
Students should:
-
Stand back from the curb at the bus stop.
-
Wait for the bus to come to a complete stop.
-
Always look both ways before crossing the street.
