Noteworthy Incidents

Offense: Hit and Run Accident

Date/Time: 07/30/2026 1:36 p.m.

Location: 1200 Block of E. Golf Road

Report #: 26-04542

The victim was backed into a parking space in the 1200 Block of E. Golf Road near a silver-colored SUV which at the time was unoccupied. While the victim was out of the vehicle, the Unknown Offender struck the front passenger side bumper of the victim's vehicle. After the accident, the offender fled the property without providing information.

The victim was eastbound on Golf Road traveling in the inside lane attempting to navigate the traffic circle while the Unknown Offender was northbound on Broadway Street approaching the same circle. Once at Broadway Street, the victim proceeded in the curve while the offender failed to yield, entered the circle, and struck the victim's front bumper. The offender then fled the area without providing information and was described as a tan hatchback driven by a male subject.

On July 29, 2026, Des Plaines Police responded to the 200 Block of E. Touhy Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle accident. When officers arrived, they located a single motorcyclist laying on the ground in the area who appeared injured and immediately requested the Des Plaines Fire Department to respond to the scene. Through investigation and speaking with multiple witnesses it was learned that the victim/motorcyclist was westbound on Touhy Avenue in the far-right lane while a red Ford Escape was in the far-left lane also traveling west. Suddenly, the Ford crossed over the middle lane and into the victim's lane causing him to swerve to avoid a collision and therefore striking the curb. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses also provided officers with a direction of travel and a license plate for the Ford Escape which was later located in a nearby parking lot. An additional description of the driver of the Ford was listed as a black female with a thin build, colorful pants, and a yellow tank top. Officers ran the Illinois state registration through the database for the Ford which returned to the subject, Nlemvo Danielson. A check of the associated business to where the vehicle was parked let officers to encountering a female subject matching the description given by the witnesses who was identified as Danielson. Officers spoke with Danielson at that location who denied being involved in the accident but when asked why multiple people had followed her into the parking lot and told her about the accident, she did not respond. A check of Danielson's driver's license status yielded that she did not have a valid Illinois Driver's License and was driving on a permit. Danielson was taken into custody and transported to the Des Plaines Police station for further.

Due to the nature of the case, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office was contacted and later gave felony approval. Danielson was subsequently arrested for one felony count of Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident; one misdemeanor count of No Valid Driver's License; ticketed for Improper Lane Usage. She was cited and released with her court information.

Offense: Driving Under the Influence / DUI With a BAC Over .08 / Traffic

Subject Name: Drzewiecki, Matthew

Des Plaines Police responded to a motor vehicle crash in the 1100 Block of E. Touhy Avenue. When the officers arrived, they located a black Chevrolet sedan in the roadway with front end damage. It was later learned that Drzewiecki was driving behind the victim who was in a Toyota Highlander. The driver of the Toyota advised that Drzewiecki was driving very close to their bumper and then when they slowed for traffic, Drzewiecki struck the rear bumper.

Officers then spoke with the Chevrolet's driver, later identified as Matthew Drzewiecki. While speaking with him, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person and he was slurring his speech. Drzewiecki was asked to exit the vehicle and while doing so, used the side of the vehicle for balance. Although Drzewiecki had initially denied consuming alcohol, he later admitted that he had been drinking both before and while he was driving. He was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, to which he agreed and upon completion, showed visible signs of impairment.

Drzewiecki was taken into custody and transported to the Des Plaines Police station. An inventory search of his vehicle yielded two open alcohol bottles in the driver's side door compartment area. Once at the station, Drzewiecki was asked to provide a breath alcohol sample. The result of the test was nearly four times the legal limit. 

Drzewiecki was subsequently arrested for one misdemeanor count each of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and DUI with a BAC Over .08; ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Following Too Closely, and the Illegal Transportation of Alcoholic Liquor by a Driver. He was cited and released with his court information.

Offense: Criminal Trespass to Residence / Criminal Damage to Property

Subject Name: Cruz, Jayden

Date of Birth: 02/15/2006

Address: 2030 Plainfield Ave. Grand Rapids, MI 49505

Des Plaines Police responded to the 1100 Block of Margret Street for the original report of a suspicious incident. Responding officers spoke with the caller, a maintenance worker for the house, who stated that he has access to the security cameras on the property and saw multiple subjects entering the residence without authorization. The officers observed the front door to be open and also the lock on the front door appeared to have been damaged. 

After a perimeter was established, officers made multiple announcements to any occupant of the house to come out. Shortly after, the subject, Jayden Cruz, came out of the back door. Cruz was compliant with instructions given by the officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to the Des Plaines Police station where he was subsequently arrested for one misdemeanor each of Criminal Trespass to Residence and Criminal Damage to Property.

Please remember that although a person may be charged with a crime, a charge is merely an accusation, and the person is innocent until proven guilty.
