City Council will meet on Monday, June 15, at 7 p.m. The meeting will include the regular business of the City Council, as well as updates from the Finance & Administration Committee, Community Development Committee, Legal & Licensing Committee, and Community Services committee.

Get Ready to Feast! Taste of Des Plaines Is Just Over a Week Away (June 19-20)
 Taste of Des Plaines is just over a week away! The beloved street festival returns on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20 serving up food, music, and family fun in the heart of the city. Festival hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday.
This year’s festival features 10 local food vendors offering a wide variety of flavors and crowd favorites, including Charcoal Delights, Giuseppe’s Pizza, HD Cuisine, Karavan, Kona Ice, Mexico Restaurant, Midwest Smoke BBQ, Que Bola Cuban Cafe, Serna’s Grill and Tiki Terrace (Hawaiian Food Truck). Whether you're craving barbecue, pizza, Cuban specialties or a sweet frozen treat, there’s something for every appetite.
Live music begins Friday evening and continues throughout the weekend on the Main Stage, sponsored by Rivers Gives. Featured performers include Sixteen Candles, ARRA, Rememories, Y2K, Lara Bell Band, Fearless: Tribute to Taylor, Second Hand News, and more. Together, they will provide the soundtrack for this summer staple.
Families can also enjoy entertainment throughout the weekend on the World Stage, sponsored by Town and Country Distributors.

Community Fireworks Show Returns to Oakton College June 28
A star-spangled summer tradition returns to Des Plaines on Sunday, June 28. The Community Fireworks at Oakton College will feature a little extra sparkle in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs, enjoy yard games and a live DJ, and cap off the evening with a spectacular fireworks displayfeaturing an extended finale to mark the occasion.
We will have eight food trucks to purchase dinner and dessert from. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the fireworks show begins at dusk (approximately 9:15 p.m.). Please note that entry to Oakton College will be off Golf Rd. only.

Get ready for a red, white and blue celebration as the City of Des Plaines’ annual Independence Day Parade makes its way through the city on Saturday, July 4. Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross will once again be part of the festivities as this longtime tradition brings patriotic flair to downtown streets.
Floats, live music and strolling entertainment will line the route as neighbors gather to celebrate the holiday together. It’s a festive, family-friendly tradition and a summer highlight in Des Plaines.
The parade steps off at 10 a.m. at Center Street and Wicke Avenue.
It will proceed north on Center Street to Prairie Avenue, then head east on Prairie before disbanding at Prairie and Pearson Street. The announcing station and review stands will be located at Center and Algonquin and at Center and Thacker.
Please note that nearby roads will be closed to accommodate parade traffic. Center Street will be closed from Wicke Avenue to Prairie Avenue, and Prairie Avenue will be closed from Center Street to Pearson Street for the duration of the parade.
