Taste of Des Plaines is Almost Here!
 The countdown is on: Taste of Des Plaines is just over a week away. The beloved two-day street festival is set to take over downtown during Father’s Day weekend from June 13-14.
We are looking forward to great entertainment on the Main Stage, sponsored by Rivers Gives, along with exciting performances on the World Stage sponsored by Generations at Oakton Arms and Town and Country Distributors.
Live music kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 13, and continues at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, featuring performances by 7th Heaven, Hairbangers Ball, LOUDERNOW, Fearless: A Tribute to Taylor Swift, Terry Byrne Band, and more!

Get Ready for the 2025 Food Truck Round Ups!
Join us for a summer full of tasty eats and great tunes at the Food Truck Round Up series. The fun kicks off Tuesday, July 22, at Metropolitan Square in Downtown Des Plaines, followed by Monday, August 19, and the rescheduled event on Tuesday, September 9. (Originally planned for May 20, this date was postponed due to inclement weather.)
All events run from 5–8 p.m., so come hungry for delicious food, live music, and good company. Here’s the updated lineup:

CDBG Day
Join us at City Hall for an evening of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Events! The CDBG Funding Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan Public Hearing and a Fair Housing Workshop in partnership with Open Communities will both take place on June 26. Residents are invited to attend the Fair Housing workshop from 6-7 p.m. and the CDBG public hearing, which starts right after. The public hearing will provide details on the draft Consolidated Plan, which allocates federal CDBG grant funding to benefit low- and moderate-income residents in the next 5 years.

There’s nothing better than a summer night around the fire pit, but it’s important to keep safety in mind. In case you missed it, the Des Plaines Fire Department recently shared a short video covering essential fire pit do’s and don’ts to help you enjoy the season safely.
Remember: keep pits 15 feet from any structure, use a spark screen, and never leave a fire unattended.

Independence Day Celebrations
Summer fun is heating up across the City! As we gear up for Taste of Des Plaines, we’re also making plans for fireworks and our Independence Day parade. Get ready to celebrate with our exciting July 4th events.
Start with the Community Fireworks show on Sunday, June 29, at Oakton College. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, enjoy yard games and DJ tunes, then watch the sky light up with a dazzling fireworks display.
Then, don’t miss the annual Independence Day Parade on Friday, July 4. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. at Center Street and Wicke Avenue with this year’s theme, “Hometown Happiness,” celebrating the pride and spirit that make Des Plaines unique.
