The 2025 Community Garage Sale is this weekend! Shop with your neighbors Friday, May 2; Saturday, May 3; and Sunday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to sunset, rain or shine. Mark Your Calendars for the Food Truck Round Up
Tuesday, May 20 | 5-8 p.m. | Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park and Conservatory
Join us as we kick-start the summer fun at this year's first Food Truck Round Up! There'll be plenty of fun indoors and outdoors. Enjoy food trucks, live music by aGOOStic (beginning at 5:30 p.m.), bubble activities, local vendors, and more. Don't forget to check out Friendship Park Conservatory's Open House and spring plant sale!

The City of Des Plaines will host two more Food Truck Round Up events later this summer:
- July 22 at Metropolitan Square.
- August 19 at Library Plaza.

Planning & Zoning Board Workshop
The Planning and Zoning Board will be hosting a workshop on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 7 p.m. in room 102 of Des Plaines Civic Center (1420 Miner Street) for a proposed development at 9600 E Golf Road (the former Fisherman's Dude Ranch).
The property owner and developer, Napleton, proposes to develop an approximately 12-acre site with multi-family and townhouse residential buildings. The developer and team will provide an overview of their preliminary concepts, answer questions, and collect feedback about this development. Conceptual plans will be shared on desplainesil.gov/workshops in advance of the meeting.
Tall Grass and Weeds Notice
 Now that May is here and things are starting to grow, the City of Des Plaines is reminding residents and property owners that regular lawn care isn’t just about curb appeal—it’s also the law.
To keep our neighborhoods safe, attractive, and accessible for everyone, here are a few key guidelines:

Grass and non-ornamental plants must be kept below 6 inches in height.

Noxious weeds, as defined in the City Code, must be removed—by cutting, pulling, or other means—at least once per month from May 1 to October 1.

Property owners and occupants are responsible for maintaining their lots. If these requirements aren’t met, the City may step in to address the issue and recover the associated costs.
Let’s all do our part to keep Des Plaines a clean and vibrant place to live!
