The 2025 Earth Month Clean Up with Clean Up - Give Back will take place at Axehead Lake (Chippewa Woods entrance) this Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m.! This event is free and open to the community. You can register in advance at cleanupgiveback.org. Walk-ups are welcome.

Community Survey
The City of Des Plaines is looking for community input to shape our priorities as we update the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consolidated Plan. This five-year strategy guides how the City allocates funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address needs for housing, infrastructure, and community services, particularly for low- and moderate-income residents.

Register for the Community Garage Sale
The 2025 Community Garage Sale will take place Friday, May 2; Saturday, May 3; and Sunday, May 4, from 8 a.m. to sunset, rain or shine. The cost to participate is FREE! Residents in the 60016 or 60018 zip codes can register for the sale at desplainesil.gov/communitygaragesale by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, to be included in the 2025 Community Garage Sale Google Map.

Yard Waste Collection
From April 7 through November 29, LRS collects residential yard waste weekly on residents’ regular garbage collection day. Please limit yard waste to grass clippings, leaves, plant clippings, twigs, small branches, and brush.
