Reminder: 8th Ward Meeting on Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. at Friendship Park Conservatory
Dear Residents,
This is a reminder that the next 8th Ward meeting will take place at Friendship Park Conservatory on Tuesday, April 1, at 7 p.m. Our special guest speaker will be Des Plaines Public Library Director Laurie Papadourakis.
Laurie has been with the Library since 2013, starting on the third floor, where she recommended materials and assisted patrons. In 2016, she became the Materials Services Manager, overseeing shelving and checking in materials. After five years, she transitioned to the Administration department as the Assistant Director, managing grants and acting as a liaison with the Friends of the Library. Recently, she led the construction of The Canvas, a new makerspace set to open in Spring 2025. Laurie was recently named Director following Jo Bonell's retirement.
We’ll also discuss recent changes to your American water rate.
Before the meeting, be sure to vote in the General Consolidated Election. Election Day is April 1 and early voting is currently available. Register, see who's on your ballot, and find your polling place at cookcountyclerkil.gov/elections.
