It’s been a busy few months of progress for the City of Des Plaines.
In just the last few months, the City Council approved the purchase of the historic downtown white bank building at the intersection of Lee Street and Ellinwood Street. The City acquired this property for over $1 million less than the seller's initial asking price. At our last council meeting, the City approved a terms sheet for leasing and operating a restaurant at this historic site. This project will be a collaboration between the City and the same organization that has made Foxtail on the Lake such a fantastic restaurant on Lake Opeka.
In other downtown news, Galaxy Hot Pot & Grill opened on the first floor of the Welkin building this month. The restaurant provides a fun and enjoyable dining experience for Des Plaines residents, visitors, and business travelers. I went there just this past week and had a great meal and a wonderful time.
These two restaurants are just the beginning of something very special. My goal and the City Council’s goal is to ensure that we work hard every day to revitalize, rejuvenate, renew, revamp, and redefine our entire City as the ideal location to live, work, and play. We accomplished a lot, but there is still work to be done, and you can count on your leaders at City Hall to continue to push for progress.
