City Council Preview
The Council Meeting scheduled for July 1, 2024, has been canceled due to the holiday. The Council will meet next on Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m.

The City hosted another successful Taste of Des Plaines event that brought thousands of attendees to the downtown area. Thank you to everyone who attended; your participation helped create an enjoyable experience filled with delicious food, lively music, and fantastic entertainment! We thank the sponsors, non-profit organizations, area restaurants, and volunteers who contributed to the event's success. Together, we showcased the vibrant spirit of our community. We look forward to additional upcoming City-hosted events this year and are already planning for Taste of Des Plaines 2025!
Tomorrow - CDBG Day + Fair Housing Workshop
Join us at City Hall for an evening of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Events! On June 27, the CDBG Funding Annual Action Plan Hearing and a Fair Housing Workshop in partnership with Open Communities will take place. Attend the Fair Housing workshop from 6-7 p.m. and the CDBG Annual Action Plan public hearing at 7 p.m.
Fireworks Safety
The best way to stay safe from fireworks is not to use them. Instead, attend a public fireworks display put on by professionals. Join us at Oakton on June 30. More details available at desplaines.org/july4.
City Offices Will Be Closed
City offices are closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. There will be a one-day delay for refuse collection due to the holiday.
Des Plaines Chamber Back-to-Work Boot Camp
The Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s “Veterans Back-to-Work Boot Camp” is back for its 8th year this Fall. They are recruiting recent military veterans and/or any veterans in transition who have been honorably discharged, and spouses of active-duty military members to apply to be selected for this transformative opportunity.
