Dear 7th Ward Residents,
Thanks to all of you who were able to attend the ward meeting on June 11th. We had a great discussion and answered many of your questions.
A few items were discussed where I wanted to provide a bit of follow up:
Craig Manor Project
The Craig Manor Drainage Improvement Project consists of a new stormwater storage facility at Craig Manor Park and relief storm sewers along sections of Madelyn Drive and Mark Avenue. The sewers will convey floodwater to the underground facility for storage during rainfall events and release the water back to the local storm sewer system afterwards. The two-year project will provide below-grade structure flooding relief to 11 at-risk houses and alleviate street flooding in the Craig Manor Subdivision at an estimated cost of $4.7 million. The MWRD will be funding $1 million of that cost. The conceptual plan is attached. In connection with the project, improvements valued at $387,060 will be made to the park.
Pedestrian Crossings
Several locations were mentioned during the meeting. After discussion with our Engineering department, we’ve found that the striping and signage meets the current standards. If there are locations where you believe signage is missing or required, please complete a request via our DP311 system and the team can investigate further.
Additionally, the City and IDOT are working to add a pedestrian signal for Northwest Highway at the Cumberland Station. Phase I preliminary engineering is underway.
