Council will meet on Monday, April 15, at 7 p.m. Here are a few noteworthy items from the agenda:

- The City Council will consider an ordinance amending City Code to prohibit the sale of “Illicit THC Products” and Kratom.
Congratulations, City Manager Wisniewski!
Last week, Dorothy Wisniewski was sworn in as the City Manager for the City of Des Plaines. Dorothy brings a wealth of experience, having served the City for almost 17 years, most recently as the Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance.
As the first female City Manager in Des Plaines history, Dorothy's appointment marks a historic moment for the City. Dorothy has demonstrated exceptional leadership and fiscal management skills throughout her time in Des Plaines, leading the Finance Department to its current award-winning status.
Please join us in welcoming Dorothy to her new role and wishing her luck!
Yard Waste Collection
Residential yard waste collection is underway! It will be collected weekly on residents’ regular garbage collection day until November 30. Please limit yard waste to grass clippings, leaves, plant clippings, twigs, small branches and brush.
Earth Month Clean Up This Weekend
Celebrate Earth Month with us! Clean Up - Give Back is holding a group trash clean up at Axehead Lake on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Use the Chippewa Woods entrance at 2760 S River Rd.)
Gloves, grabbers, safety vests and trash bags will be provided. The rain date is the following day, Sunday, April 14, and will be communicated on our Facebook page if necessary.
This event is FREE and open to the community! You can register in advance at cleanupgiveback.org. Walk-ups are welcome!
Community Garage Sale
Are you looking to do some spring cleaning and part ways with old belongings? Participate in the 2024 Community Garage Sale from May 3-5! Register to hold a sale at your home by April 30, and you’ll be included on the City’s interactive virtual garage sale map.
