Dorothy Wisniewski will be sworn in as the City Manager of Des Plaines.

- Consideration of the acquisition of 1504 Miner St. through eminent domain, an item that has been deferred from several past City Council meetings.
Rate Change Reminder
The agreement between Des Plaines and LRS allows an increase to trash and recycling service rates every year based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The City negotiated the allowed annual increase between 2% and 3% to maintain affordable prices for our residents. The increase for 2024 will be 3%, making LRS’ new average rate $19.33 per month. The new rate begins April 1, 2024.
LRS monthly costs remain over $5 lower than projected by other area providers. Visit lrsrecycles.com to learn more about LRS and its services.

Earth Month Clean Up
Celebrate Earth Month with us! Clean Up - Give Back is holding a group trash clean up at Axehead Lake on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Use the Chippewa Woods entrance at 2760 S River Rd.)
Gloves, grabbers, safety vests and trash bags will be provided. The rain date is the following day, Sunday, April 14, and will be communicated on our Facebook page if necessary.
This event is FREE and open to the community! You can register in advance at cleanupgiveback.org. Walk-ups are welcome!

The City of Des Plaines is excited to announce our new and improved DP 311 portal! DP 311 is designed to provide our residents, businesses and visitors with a quick and easy way to communicate with City staff. Get information, report issues and submit service requests at the touch of a button.
Check it out at desplaines.org/dp311 or download the mobile app onto your Android or Apple device. Please note, if you had the old version of the app, you might need to update your device.
Remember that DP 311 should not be used for emergencies. For urgent matters that require immediate attention or a police response, call 9-1-1.
Local Job Fairs
Join the Des Plaines Park District for their job fair on Friday, March 29, from 12 to 4 p.m. at Prairie Lakes Community Center. Attendees can engage with hiring managers across various departments, including athletics, aquatics, camps, dance & arts, fitness, and more. Details can be found on their website.
