City Council Recap
Council met on 9/6. Here are some noteworthy discussion items from the meeting:
- A proclamation recognizing September as Suicide Prevention Month. If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is available. Call or text 988 or chat at 988lifeline.org for instant support.
- A proclamation declaring September 15 to October 15, 2022 as Hispanic Heritage Month. We had representatives from Maine West’s Latinx Club accept the proclamation on behalf of the community.
- Council voted to approve an ordinance that authorizes the City to enter into a Purchase and Sale Agreement for 1332 Webford (a public parking lot) with the developer of the project proposed for Graceland and Webford. This was the second of two readings required for approval. Petitioner updates or project materials can be accessed at desplaines.org/gracelandwebford.
Council will meet next on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Read the agenda here for more details. And, watch the livestream here.
