Des Plaines Celebrates Arbor Day
Did you know Des Plaines has been designated as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for the last 35 years? Thanks to our Forestry Team in Public Works, we have also been honored with the Growth Award for the second year in a row! To celebrate Arbor Day our Public Works team joined students from Forest Elementary School and elected officials to plant a State Street Maple tree on the school grounds. The tree was affectionately named Hazel!
Great Work, Des Plaines!
You helped us collect almost 70lbs of plastic bags during Clean Up Give Back’s plastic bag drive! Throughout the campaign, hundreds of pounds were collected and diverted from landfills. Thank you for participating.
Keep recycling those bags at local retailers, like Jewel and Target. Clean Up Give Back will also continue its collection at some locations throughout the year, including City Hall! Visit cleanupgiveback.org for more information.
