City Council Agenda 1/18/2022
I hope this email finds everyone healthy and happy. On 1/03/2022 the city council met for our 1st meeting of the year and it was uneventful as there was only the warrant register on the agenda.
As discussed at a past city council meeting, there will be changes coming at the 2/7 council meeting to address and change the distance that notifications are sent to neighbors regarding ordinance variations on properties.
If you have any issues or questions please reach out to me at Soskerka@desplaines.org or at 847-514-6318

Metropolitan Square Changes
Back in 2016 The City Council worked with The Lakota Group to update plans for the center of the square, to make it more family friendly and discover ways to attract more people to that area. After some planning and designing they presented 2 different ideas to the City Council. Those ideas were left on the table and nothing further was discussed.
Last October with the opening of the Theater the City Council brought up those ideas again and want to move forward with a redesign of the center of the square. Please click the link below and look at the designs presented back in 2016. We will be discussing these at Tuesdays meeting and want input back from residents.
Please let me know your thoughts or ideas on these designs

City Sponsored Events
At a strategic planning meeting in October of 2021 the City Council asked staff to put together a list of events or activities we could host going forward in 2022. The city council in the 2022 budget approved more money for city sponsored events then ever before.
Some of the highlights are fireworks, 4th of July parade, and a farmers market. Please click the link below and see what is going to be discussed on 1/18/22. This is not a final list but the beginning of a discussion to be finalized soon after.
Please let me know what you think about these events

Helping our Neighbors
With the 1st snow storm of the year under our belt and more cold weather to come please remember to check on your neighbors to see if they need anything. Please reach out to me if I can help. We can connect people with city services or to groups like the Frisbee Senior Center or the Jet City for things like shoveling. Sometimes a little bit of help can go a long way to make a difference.
