Christmas Tree Collection
The city will be collecting real Christmas trees without decorations or lights on them during the week of 1/3 till 1/7. Please have them on the curb by 7am on 1/3 and public works will pick them up by the end of the week.

RESOLUTION R-4-22: Approving the Purchase of Replacement Parkway Trees from Participating Nurseries and Planting Labor Through the West Central Municipal Conference – Suburban Tree Consortium, River Grove, Illinois in the Not-to-Exceed Amount of $240,000 for Spring and Fall Plantings. Budgeted Funds – General/Street Maintenance Division/Tree Plantings
RESOLUTION R-8-22: Approving the Purchase of a Horton Ambulance from Foster Coach Sales, Sterling, Illinois in the Amount of $332,638. Budgeted Funds – Equipment Replacement.
RESOLUTION R-9-22: Approving the Purchase of a Pierce Aerial Platform Ladder Truck from Macqueen Emergency Group in an Amount Not-to-Exceed $1,463,000. Budgeted Funds – Equipment Replacement.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors
I had the pleasure of meeting with Kevin Murphy and his team from The Jet City Coalition last week. They are a very strong community driven organization with the goal of just being a good neighbor and helping out those in need. They offer programs like community shoveling, community gardening, and well being checks.
I am proud to announce that Kevin and The Jet City want to partner with the 3rd ward to expand their shoveling program for those that need it. We all have a neighbor that needs help with their shoveling during the winter. It doesn't matter if it is one time or every time it snows. Please click the link below and fill out the form below and let them know who needs our help.
Kevin is also looking for volunteers to help with this program. If you can help shovel even one time please let them know on the same form. Every little bit helps.
I have volunteered to help and I am hoping to see others out there as well, being good neighbors and helping those that need it.

In the most recent video of "Monday with the Mayor" Mayor Goczkowski asked for ideas on what special events our community would like to see the city host. I have already sent in a few ideas myself and have passed along ideas people have sent to me. The recently approved budget allows for more funds for special events than ever before. This is a great chance to express your ideas on fun, new and different things we have never done. Or do you have an idea on how we could improve on something that we've done in the past?
