Des Plaines Police Searching for Driver and Vehicle Involved in Fatal Hit and Run
DES PLAINES, Illinois (December 28, 2021) – The Des Plaines Police Department is looking for any information that may lead them to identifying the driver of a silver sedan on Dec. 27, 2021 at approximately 10:27 p.m. in the area of Touhy Ave. and Lee St. in Des Plaines.
On Dec. 27 at 10:29 p.m., the Des Plaines Police Department responded to a man lying in the roadway on Touhy Ave. east of Lee St. in the westbound traffic lanes. The man was unresponsive upon police arrival. The Des Plaines Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the man to Lutheran General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:02 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Ian Clark, a 41-year-old, Des Plaines resident.
Initial police investigation revealed that at approximately 10:27 p.m., Clark was walking northbound across Touhy Ave. from the corner of Touhy Ave. and Lee St. when he was stuck by a silver sedan traveling westbound on Touhy Ave. The sedan continued westbound and stopped at the red light at Touhy Ave. and Lee St. before fleeing westbound on Touhy Ave after the light changed.
Touhy Ave was closed from 10:30 p.m. Monday night to approximately 3:30 a.m.
