2025 Reassessment of North Suburbs Begins in Norwood Park Township
The Assessor’s Office reassesses one-third of Cook County every year. This year the north suburbs are scheduled for reassessment, beginning with Norwood Park Township.
Norwood Park Township includes Norridge, Harwood Heights, Park Ridge, and unincorporated parts of Cook County. Reassessment Notices were mailed to property owners on March 24.
Property owners are encouraged to review their reassessment notice to ensure their property characteristics and market value reflect their home. Assessments in Cook County reflect market value over the last three years.
 How do assessment appeals work?
Property owners are given an opportunity to appeal their assessment if the property characteristics listed on an assessment notice are incorrect, or if the estimated market value of a property is significantly more than what it could sell for in the current real estate market.
The deadline to file an appeal for Norwood Park Township is Monday, May 5.
To learn more about property assessments and appeals, watch our upcoming virtual workshop live on Facebook or YouTube scheduled for April 9 at 6 p.m. in English and April 10 at 6 p.m. in Spanish.
After a township undergoes reassessment, a valuation report is released that provides details on residential, commercial, and multi-family reassessments. Property owners can use these reports to gain insight on how property assessments work, learn about the real estate market in their specific neighborhood, and compare the median to their property value. The Valuation Reports for Norwood Park Township can be found at: cookcountyassessor.com/valuation-reports.
The property value on this Notice will affect second installment tax bills issued in 2026.

Apply for Property Tax Savings Now
Exemption applications for the 2024 tax year are now available online. Exemptions are savings that contribute to lowering a homeowner’s property tax bill. As a reminder, exemptions are reflected on the second installment property tax bill. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 21, 2025.
Here are three key things that homeowners should be aware of when applying for exemptions.
- New homeowners, first-time applicants, or those that need to reapply can now do so online.
- Homeowners need to submit annual filings for the “Senior Freeze” and Veterans with Disabilities Exemptions. Seniors and Veterans that need to reapply will be mailed application booklets in the mail, but are encouraged to apply online.
- The automatic renewal of the Homeowner, Senior, and Persons with Disabilities Exemptions will continue, postcards will be mailed to households confirming that the savings will be applied and no action is needed.

Assessment & Appeal Calendar
Cook County follows a triennial reassessment cycle, meaning that a property is reassessed once every three years. A property's reassessment year depends on the township in which the property is located. To determine which township a property is located in, click here.
Even if a property is not scheduled to be reassessed in 2025, property owners still have an opportunity to file an appeal if they choose to do so. View the Assessment & Appeal Calendar to see upcoming appeal deadlines.
