Smoking Unfiltered:

The Hidden Dangers You Can’t Ignore

Few things compare to the exhilarating rush of breathing fresh, crisp fall air. A simple pleasure that can easily be taken for granted. However, for individuals with comprised immune systems and respiratory issues, this pleasure can be hijacked by environmental factors such as secondhand smoke.

The fall season signals that the end of the calendar year is drawing near and serves as a perfect timeline to re-evaluate goals and health priorities. That’s why this week’s installment is devoted to the changes in how tobacco is being used and the associated risks of cigarettes.

Quitting smoking can be challenging and overwhelming to manage. If you are committed to ending a smoking addiction, know that you are not alone.

  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Tobacco product use remains the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States. In 2022, 49.2 million (19.8%)—or nearly 1 in 5—U.S. adults reported current tobacco product use.
