Your Second Installment Property Tax Bill is currently available online. A paper copy was mailed to you beginning July 1, 2024, and payment is due to the Cook County Treasurer’s Office by Thursday, August 1, 2024.
Property Tax Bills are mailed twice a year by the Treasurer’s Office. The Second Installment Property Tax Bill includes the breakdown of taxing districts in your area and where your money goes. It also reflects tax rates, changes in assessments, and any dollars saved by qualified exemptions.
If you are unable to pay your tax bill by the due date, visit the Treasurer's Office to learn about the new Payment Plan Calculator that helps homeowners pay late taxes in smaller increments to avoid the tax sale, please note that interest does apply.
Property tax exemptions are savings that can lower your Property Tax Bill. Be sure to check the bottom left corner of your Second Installment Property Tax Bill for exemption deductions. Most homeowners are eligible for the Homeowner Exemption. Most Senior homeowners over the age of 65 are most likely eligible for the Senior Exemption.
The Senior Freeze exemption offers significant savings to seniors 65 or older with a household income of $65,000 or less. Seniors must reapply for this savings every year.
