Cook County’s Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) invites Cook County employees to participate in the 2024 Cook County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update process. Cook County must update the plan every five years to be eligible for federal mitigation funding. Community feedback is an essential element of the plan, and employee participation would be a helpful contribution.
Cook County is committed to improving its emergency preparedness and mitigation capabilities, and this can only be done by ensuring the community has input. Cook County experienced severe storms and flooding in 2023, leading to two major Presidential disaster declarations, which underscores the need for this important work.
Cook County employees are encouraged to participate in the community preparedness survey and share experiences, knowledge and concerns about local natural hazards, such as severe storms, flooding and tornadoes.
To complete the confidential 10-minute survey, please visit:

The survey will remain open until May 31, 2024. The information you provide will help EMRS and local communities create strategies and implement actions to reduce the future risk of death, injuries and property damage from natural hazards.
Sincerely,
 Theodore "Ted" Berger, Executive Director
Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security
