Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month-- a time when leaders, advocates, survivors and communities come together to educate and raise awareness as well as advocate for policies, practices and programs that address forms of gender-based violence including domestic and intimate partner violence.
The JAC recently joined County and non-profit leaders to acknowledge Domestic Violence Awareness Month and announce nearly $5 million in grant awards under the Cook County Domestic Violence Intervention and Support Services initiative. Watch the press conference or learn more here.
Supporting Successful Reentry in Cook County
Cook County is committed to increasing access to services that support returning residents as they navigate the transition from incarceration, home to their communities. The JAC is leading this work through engaging with stakeholders, advancing policies and developing reentry initiatives.
Meet the JAC's Manager of Reentry Services
Nikki Muñoz is a leader specializing in justice reform, reentry navigation and substance use rehabilitation with a longstanding dedication to ending stigma through education, particularly in under-represented communities in Cook County. She also volunteers as a sexual assault and domestic violence crisis hotline operator and facilitates Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) groups using cognitive behavior interventions.

Cook County Reconnect

Cook County Reconnect recently launched with a successful pilot phase. This American Rescue Plan Act funded initiative will run through November 2026.
