River Forest & Riverside Townships Reopening for Assessment Appeal

The Board of Review is reopening Riverside and River Forest Townships for appeal October 13 through November 1, 2020.

The Cook County Assessor’s Office (CCAO) had changes/corrections to over 5,000 property parcels in 3 townships (Riverside, River Forest and Oak Park) where they had previously certified and published their final values.  The CCAO re-certified and re-published those townships with the corrected values, and the Board of Review is now re-opening those townships for appeal.

Your assessment may or may not have been impacted by this recertification. If you have already submitted an appeal, you do not need to file again. If you previously missed the 30 day window to appeal at the Board of Review, you may now submit a new appeal through November 1, 2020.

During this modified twenty (20) day period, online users will have the ability to amend and supplement previously submitted arguments and related evidence. In addition, “new” complaints can be submitted during this time. However, there will be no additional “evidence submission” period.

You may file a property assessment appeal online by visiting our website. You must have an email address in order to do so. If you filed an appeal online in a previous year and created an account, simply login, include any new evidence you wish to have considered, and submit. I strongly encourage you to create an account when filing online as there are several benefits, including the ability to login and view analysts decisions which provides a greater understanding of how a determination is rendered.
