Missing an Exemption?

Missing an exemption?

Now that homeowners have received their second installment property tax bills in the mail, an exemption may be missing, here is what to do.

1. Find your property's records by entering your address or PIN.

Search your Property's Records

2. Scroll down to the Exemption History tab and view the exemptions received for tax year 2019.

3. If you do not see the exemption you applied for, then continue to scroll to the Certificate of Error tab. If the exemptions is listed there for tax year 2019, then no action is required and you will receive a corrected bill automatically. If the exemption is not listed, a Certificate or Error needs to be filed for tax year 2019.

I applied for an appeal already, when and how do I receive the results?

Appeal result letters for the first reassessed townships have been mailed. More result letters will follow as appeals are processed. Please note that no result letters will be available for in-person pickup at the Cook County Assessor’s Office. They will be mailed to either the property owner or the property tax practitioner who filed the appeal on behalf of the property owner.

In addition, property owners who did not receive a COVID-19 adjustment in their reassessment will receive an additional letter notifying them of any COVID-19 adjustments made to the assessed value of their property. This is separate from the appeal result letter. Both the results of appeals and COVID-19 adjustments will be made available on our website.
